Science Week 2018

What a Science Week it has been this year. Monday saw the introduction of Millie the Tyrannosaurus Rex to the children and parents. Fortunately the savage beast from the Cretaceous Period was locked away in the cage! The children all then met Millie and another dino guest during our whole school assembly. From Monday to Wednesday, Chris the Dinosaur man did some incredible workshops with Reception, Years 1,2,4 and 6 where children were able to be junior palaeontologists and dig up dinosaur bones! Whilst all this was happening, Years 3 and 5 were lucky enough to visit the Natural History Museum, visiting the amazing dinosaur exhibition and taking part in wonderful workshops.

Meanwhile, in school, we welcomed parents and family members to the popular parent workshops. Year 3 created amazing dinosaur skeletons with straws, whilst year 2 created their own dinosaur faces out of paper plates. Years 5 and 6 were challenged to create microraptors – incredible flying dinosaurs.

In class, there has been a great deal of dinosaur learning taking place and the top scientists were rewarded at Friday’s Achievement Assembly with a certificate. As well as this, we have had some incredible art work created in the art competition. We had lots and lots of entries, with many receiving a certificate due to the quality of their work and special praise has to go to Leo, Aysha, Rhea and Marzan for being our four Science Week Art Competition Winners. We still have three more family workshops to come next week, which we are looking forward to immensely.

We are already thinking of themes for Science Week 2019! If you have any ideas, let Alex or Meredith know. Thanks!
